The academic year is divided into two semesters. During the semester, regular mandatory study events (scheduled lectures, seminars, etc.) take place, as at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich.
In addition, there are intermediate semesters with individual study activities to be undertaken, such as internships, study weeks and foreign language stays. All students have three to seven weeks of holidays, but according to the individual study programme there may be more weeks without in-class activities.
During the Easter holidays there may be practical diploma examinations for students in the final semester of the primary and pre-school programmes.
